Individually drip-brewed single-origin coffee has made its way to Detroit, with the opening of Astro Coffee in the Corktown neighborhood.
The cafe — which buys its beans from Chicago’s Intelligentsia and San Francisco’s Ritual Coffee Roasters and Sightglass Coffee — is owned by Jessica Hicks and Daisuke Hughes. According to a recent Detroit Free Press report, the two opened the shop to try to replicate the artisan coffee experiences they’d had in their native Sydney.
“We’ve been thinking about this for a long time,” Hicks told the paper.
