Barista Bath and Body, the the Portland-based makers of coffee-based bath and skin-care products, is partnering with Grounds For Health, an international nonprofit organization that has been establishing women’s health care programs in coffee-growing communities since 1996.
The company is joining the nonprofit’s “Campaign for Giving,” which asks women everywhere to show their solidarity with women in the developing world who are often without access to basic health care and screening. Purchasing coffee-based products from Barista Bath and Body will sends 5 percent net revenue this month to the cause.
“Barista Bath and Body was introduced to Grounds for Health at the NCA Convention in New Orleans in April by their Development Director, Jane Sakovitz Dale. As a woman-owned business, we immediately saw the synergy between our coffee-based line and their work with women in coffee-producing countries. Coffee and coffeehouses have, historically, been the channel for innovative ideas and the catalyst for historic change. A collaboration between two organizations with coffee as their foundation seemed very natural”, said Nancy L. Scuderi, President of Barista Bath and Body.
