Two longtime friends in Winchester, N.H., have launched a coffee roasting company to help save a historic home, which is most noteworthy as the former home of Persis Albee, “America’s First Avon Lady.”
According to Union Leader reports, Larry Holmes launched Albee House Coffee Roasters to help his friend Harry Bickford — an unemployed computer analyst — keep the historic home, which risks foreclosure since vandals burst pipes in the basement last winter, trying to extract the copper.
Through the roasting business, the friends hope to raise $30,000. According to AlbeeHouseCoffee.com, the pair is offering numerous business opportunities in sales and distribution, including traveling agents, “in keeping with the tradition of Mrs. Albee.”
