Brazil Coffee Production May Reach Record HighsBrazil’s next coffee crop may produce as many as 50 million bags of coffee, which would represent an all-time seasonal high for the world’s largest coffee-producing country.

“The initial expectation that the next season might hit a record may not be confirmed due to the dry weather which affected important regions until October,” Margerete Boteon, an analyst with the Sao Paolo research group Cepea wrote in a report obtained by Bloomberg. “Frosts hit some coffee crops between June and July.”

The 2012-2013 crop in Brazil — which produces much of the world’s robusta beans, used in espresso — is expected to be harvested in July.
