Coinstar Inc., the vending company that runs Redbox, plans on selling coffee through Seattle’s Best-branded vending machines. The company expects to install more than 500 machines nationwide this year.
According to a New York Times report, the 3-foot-by-3-foot kiosks will grind beans before making individual cups of coffee for a fraction of the cost of a typical cafe cup. Developed in a partnership with Starbucks, the kiosks will go in supermarkets, shopping malls, large office buildings and other retail locations.
Redbox has supplanted Blockbuster and Netflix as the biggest renter of home videos in the United States.
