dunkin donuts coffee and cupDunkin’ Donuts has reached a deal with a franchise group that includes former University of Texas quarterback Colt McCoy to develop 24 new Dunkin’ Donuts locations throughout the Austin metro area.

The first Dunkin’ store is scheduled to open in 2013 in the Austin suburb of Cedar Park, with more traditional Dunkin’ locations plus three Dunkin’ Donuts/Baskin-Robbins combo stores to follow. The franchise group, under the name Coffee Action West, is being led by McCoy, who now plays for the Cleveland Browns, along with quick-serve industry veteran Dale Mulvey.

“We are excited to expand Dunkin’ Donuts’ presence in the Austin Metro Area and play an important role in the daily lives of people who live, work and visit here,” Mulvey said in an announcement of the deal. “We have a passion and loyalty for the brand and look forward to the opening of our Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in the years to come.”

Dunkin’ Donuts says the franchise deal will complete its presence in the Austin market, but that the company is looking to grow franchises in other parts of the state.
