Javista Joins Growing Roster of Indie Coffee Bars in L.A.

Javista Coffee Bar Sunset

Yet another specialty coffee bar has opened in Los Angeles, which until a few years ago was almost entirely ruled by Starbucks and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf franchises.

With the support of a $16,000 Kickstarter campaign, Javista Organic Coffee Bar opened at 6707 Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood earlier this week.

Within the past two weeks alone, at least four new independent coffee bars have opened throughout the Los Angeles area, including Cognoscenti Coffee in Culver City, 8 Espressos in West L.A., and Taza in Echo Park.

Here’s a description from co-owner Armond Bagdasarian’s of Javista’s coffee and food program:

Our unique relationship with the successful Los Angeles Urth Caffé chain will enable us to feature Urth’s exclusively heirloom organic coffees, teas, cocoas, and food – Urth is the only roaster in the U.S. that prepares only organic coffee roasts made with free-trade, heirloom coffee beans. When their menu items are fused with the traditional flavors from David and Armond’s diverse Armenian and Iranian cultural backgrounds, the result will be baked goods, signature sandwiches, and specialty beverages that you won’t find anywhere else. Since they are both committed to serving organic, heirloom, free-trade beverages and foods, when you back Javista, you also support: diversity, fairness, quality, and sustainable deliciousness. You can feel good about supporting a business that helps make the planet better through fair dealing, sustainable agriculture, and botanical diversity.
