PR Firm Launches “Caffeination” Video Series, Touring U.S. Roasteries

The Pancake Epidemic, a project of the L.A.-based marketing firm StreetVirus, is taking on specialty coffee with a new video series, Caffeination.

The stated goal of the series is to travel 5,000 miles throughout the Western United States, talk to coffee roasters and see just what the heck is going on with specialty coffee. Host Brandon Davenport, described as the Pancake Epidemic’s coffee specialist (do PR firms have those?) is also on a personal mission to drink 100 cups of coffee during the trip.

The series’ first video explores coffee in San Francisco, inauspiciously beginning and ending with coffees from Denny’s and McDonald’s, respectively. Davenport’s review of a fresh McDonald’s brew: “It’ll work.”

The video also took Davenport to some more reputable Bay Area roasteries, including Blue Bottle, Four Barrel, Sightglass Coffee, Graffeo Coffee and Ritual Coffee Roasters.
