First Descents, a Denver-based non-profit that provides adventure programming for young adults with cancer, has partnered with Vail Mountain Coffee & Tea Co., the leaders in micro-estate, single origin, sustainably farmed coffee and tea, to launch the new Out Living It coffee blends.

The Out Living It blends, available in light, medium and dark roasts, are available now on the First Descents store and will be coming soon to regional Whole Foods, Kroger and Safeway stores as well as online on Amazon.com and VailCoffee.com. The blends will also be sold in brick and mortar locations in Denver and throughout the Rockies region.

“Vail Mountain Coffee and Tea Company has been a dream partner for us because they truly believe in what we do,” says First Descents director of marketing, Sarah Hubbard. “This product has the ability to grow our audience substantially and increase our ability to serve more participants in the coming year.”

Vail Mountain Coffee & Tea Co. will donate 50 cents for every 12-ounce bag sold and $1.25 for every five-pound bag directly to First Descents. These proceeds will help fund adventure programs for young adult cancer survivors who are fulfilling the First Descents “Out Living It” mission by surfing, kayaking or climbing beyond their diagnosis.

“I was fortunate enough to witness a First Descents program in action in 2006,” says Vail Mountain Coffee and Tea Co. director of marketing, Jaimie Healey. “Watching fear turn into fearlessness was so impactful, and I vowed that if I was ever in a position to help this organization I would. When I brought the idea to owners Chris Chantler and Craig Arsenau, they didn’t even blink before they said, ‘Let’s do it!’”
