One of Portland’s largest roasters, Stumptown Coffee Roasters, is planning to build a new headquarters in Southeast Portland, new stores throughout the country, and an iced-coffee brewery.
Matt Lounsbury, Stumptown’s director of operations, says despite a new private investment that is making the building plans possible, there will be no structural changes at the head of the company, according to an Oregon Live report.
The report followed a social media outburst that resulted from an Esquire.com report that the company was selling to Wall Street and would be under new ownership. Instead, Lounsbury said, Sorenson simply had accepted an investment from a friend, whom he declined to identify, according to the report.
“We’re going on our 12th year, and we have ambitious plans for the future,” Lounsbury told reporter Laura Gunderson. “We were at a point at which banks wouldn’t give us any more money.”
