Two Vancouver-based coffee roasters are joining forces today to help raise funds for the Asobagri co-op in Guatemala, which suffered serious damages during a landslide on Sept. 20.
JJ Bean and Ethical Bean, recognizing the co-op as an important supplier for some of their blends, organized the fundraiser, which is also getting support from other Vancouver coffee shops and grocery outlets.
From JJ Bean:
On September 20th, heavy rains caused a massive landslide at ASOBAGRI, which killed fifteen people. Four homes were destroyed, along with some of the co-op’s most important buildings. Without the necessary processing facilities, the livelihood of around 1,200 farmers is at stake.
