Two years ago, a customer at The Corner Perk coffee shop in Bluffton, S.C., left a barista $100 and asked her to use the money to pay for the drinks of whoever else ordered that day, until the money ran out.
According to a report from Savannah, Ga.’s NBC affiliate WSAV, word of the random act of kindness got out, and soon other nameless donors began paying it forward at the locally owned cafe.
“People will come in and say, ‘What do you mean? I don’t understand. Are you trying to buy me a coffee today?’ And I say, ‘No, somebody came in 30 minutes ago and left money to pay for drinks until it runs out,’ ” Corner Perk owner Josh Cooke told WSAV.
