After losing his wife to ovarian cancer, a Newburyport, Mass., man is using his coffee company to promote awareness for the disease.
According to a Newburyport News report, former city councilor Bruce Vogel lost his wife, Paula Holm in 2009, and he wasn’t sure whether to remain in the close-knit community. But Vogel decided to purchase Plum Island Coffee Roasters last year, and he’s now leveraging the company to support a group he recently founded, the Greater Newburyport Ovarian Cancer Group.
The group will be attending a free community coffee tasting event at the Plum City cafe on Friday, March 30, from 7 to 8:30 EST, in which Plum City’s lead roaster will be leading attendees through tastes of roast profiles of coffees throughout the world.
