Uganda Coffee Production Up 2.5 Percent this Month

Coffee exports from Uganda are expected to climb about 2.5 percent this month, sources told Bloomberg.

An unnamed official with the Uganda Development Authority said the improved crop for Africa’s second-largest coffee-producing country may mean Uganda ships 180,000 60-kilogram bags this month, which represents a 4 percent decrease from last month as the main harvest in the countries eastern and central regions begins to wind down.

Uganda may is expected to produce approximately 3.2 million bags of coffee for the year ending in September, with robusta beans accounting for some 85 percent of the country’s exports.
