Stumptown Coffee Roasters owner Duane Sorensen is delving further into the food and restaurant business, purchasing restaurant space at 3377 E. Division St. in Portland, Ore., next to Stumptown’s future headquarters.

According to a Portland Monthly report, Sorensen plans to unveil a new restaurant concept in the space, which was previously owned by Portland restaurateur David Machado and his neighborhood restaurant, Lauro Kitchen, after nine years to pursue other projects.

The Monthly, referring to Sorensen as an “indie coffee lord” also described him as one of numerous culinary talents helping make Portland’s Division Street a destination area. Sorensen opened the Woodsman Tavern, a neighborhood restaurant and market next to a Stumptown location at 3377 Division Street last October.

“I’ve lived over here for years,” he told Portland Monthly. “I love investing in the food scene on Division. I’m excited to be part of Portland’s food world.”
