Boston-Area Coffee Chain Investigated for Employment Discrimination

Marylou's coffee baristasAn East Coast coffee shop chain known for its pink decor and television commercials featuring attractive young baristas is reportedly under investigation by federal authorities for employment description.

According to a Boston.com report, executives from Marylou’s, which boasts 29 locations in and around Boston and Rhode Island, are calling the investigation from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commision a “witch hunt.” Marylou Sandry, who opened the first Marylou’s location in Hanover, Mass., in 1986, wrote in a letter to a senator that was obtained by Boston.com that the company has never faced a discrimination lawsuit.
