Popular Brooklyn, N.Y. coffee roaster and retailer Gorilla Coffee has released a shelf-stable cold black coffee. The coffee is available in 11-ounce, recyclable, resealable screwtop tetrapak boxes that require no refrigeration.
The company says the coffee brew features only Rwanda Kigeyo and Brazil Pedra Roxa coffees, with water. It is not a concentrate.
Gorilla joins Austin, Texas-based Kohana Coffee as an independent roaster developing prepackaged cold brews for grocery stores. Gorilla says its unflavored cold brew is the first of its kind.
The Gorilla cold coffee is available online at numerous local retail outlets, including Whole Foods.
