A Connecticut coffee roaster is opening a new coffee shop in West Hartford, saying his roasting business has been lacking the social component of coffee that he holds dear from his native Puerto Rico.
José René Martínez Onofre is opening a new J. René Coffee Roasters location tomorrow. “Coffee is a social drink and the one missing component at the old venue was a place where people could partake and get along,” Martinez recently told the West Hartford Patch.
The new cafe will have a “modern industrial” vibe, as Martinez explained to the Patch, and it will also serve as a new roasting facility. Martinez got into the coffee business six years ago when unexpectedly smelling the aromas coming from a nearby coffee roastery. He bought the business weeks later and has since grown it to maintain numerous wholesale accounts, along with a traditional retail operation.
