Two Seattle-area coffee companies, Silver Cup Coffee and Urban City Coffee Roasting Company, have merged. The companies began combined roasting and business operations out of Silver Cup’s expanded headquarters in Lynnwood, Wash., on Monday, Aug. 13.
To celebrate, Silver Cup owner and founder Christian Kar and Urban City owner and founder Brian Jurus have teamed up to create a limited edition Founder’s Blend, which should be available later this month.
“This merger is about coffee and customers,” says Jurus. “Releasing this blend allows Christian and I to create something together and represents the best of both companies. Plus, it has been a lot of fun getting back to our roots.”
Both roasting companies currently maintain wholesale and retail operations. “We both started selling espresso at the dawn of the ‘90’s in the Seattle area, with common goals of taking care of the customer and crafting exceptional coffees,” says Kar. “By joining together, we are able to deliver new programs to help our customers grow their businesses and become more profitable.”
