What are people willing to do for a free cup of coffee? U.K. coffee company Kenko Millicano is finding out. The company recently placed a coffee vending machine, Kenneth, in London’s Soho Square that shouts at passersby and demands they perform certain tasks in order to get a free cup of coffee.
The marketing ploy, devised by ad agency Leo Burnet, incorporates the recorded voice of an actual human actor, and recognition software allows the machine to determine whether people are properly responding to commands to shout a certain phrase or hug the machine.
