Bali’s Coffee Exports Up 240 Percent in First Half of 2012

Bali’s coffee exports through June are up some 240 percent over last calendar year’s levels, from 3.7 tons to 9.2 tons.

Bali, which sells primarily to Japan and European markets, exported a total of 3,080 tons of coffee in 2011, which was down from 3,245 tons in 2010, and officials there are hoping the early exports in 2012 forecast continued success.

Coffee is Bali’s second largest exported product after vanilla, and according to Indonesia’s Andara News, vanilla exports have been sluggish through the first two quarters.
