The Briggo — billed by the company as a robot barista — is currently only available at the Flawn Academic Center at the University of Texas. The Briggo allows consumers to order cold or hot coffee and espresso drinks remotely from a computer or smart phone or directly at the kiosk. Using organic beans and fresh milk products, the Briggo system allows single POS or account-based purchases.
Briggo is among a wave of companies large and small — including Seattle’s Best, Marley Coffee and Kenko Millicano — that has announced plans to expand their automated specialty coffee vending systems to high-foot-traffic areas such as college campuses, hospitals and airports.
Here’s a description of the system from Briggo’s coffee consultant Patrick Pierce, who says, “I have a robot version of myself as a barista. We make a good team of nerds.”
