Copper Moon Coffee Seeks $1.3 Million in Tax Abatements for Move

Copper Moon Coffee logoAn Indianapolis-based coffee company, Copper Moon, is seeking $1.3 million worth of tax abatements as it hopes to relocate its business to Lafayette, Ind., near the campus of Purdue University.

According to a WBAA Purdue Public Radio report, the Tippecanoe County Council has given initial approval to Copper Moon — which currently roasts and packages coffee in both the consumer and foodservice segments — to occupy an economic redevelopment district on Veterans Memorial Parkway East. The district designation would allow the company to purse tax abatements, including a 10-year, $500,000 abatement on real estate, and a 7-year, $800,000 abatement on manufacturing equipment.

In addition to its supplier operations, Copper Moon Coffee also operates retail cafes, including a new one in the Indianapolis International Airport.
