The mobile truck is handing out free Turkish coffee — typically prepared strong with dark roasted arabica beans in an ibrik and served with sugar and grounds — to drum up recognition for Turkish Cultural Heritage Month. The District’s annual Turkish Festival kicks off Sept. 30.
According to a Washington Post report, Kurukahveci Istanbul-based coffee company Mehmet Efendiis providing the beans for the marketing project.
A schedule for the Turkish coffee truck is available here. The American Turkish Association of D.C. expects to pass out some 1,000 cups per day leading up to the event.
