Downtown Los Angeles is getting yet another coffee roaster, as Bobak Roshan, owner of the coffee shop Demitasse at 135 San Pedro St., is launching Demitasse Roasting.
According to a Los Angeles Times report, Roshan is partnering with L.A.-based roaster Greg Thomas, who currently operates his own small roastery, Tryestero. The Demitasse roasting business should be active next month. Here’s more from the Times:
Demitasse plans to roast on a Diedrich IR-2.5 in a temporary warehouse downtown while Roshan and Thomas look for a permanent space. Roshan says the space will most likely include a retail shop.
Demitasse Roasting’s first three coffees (a Colombian, Ethiopian and Sumatran) and an espresso blend will be on the menu at the shop the weekend of Oct. 13.
Demitasse is the latest in a series of high-profile roasters with designs on downtown L.A. Verve Coffee Roasters has announced plans to open a roasting facility in the arts district, and Handsome Coffee Roasters opened its flagship facility downtown earlier this year.
