Atlas Coffee Importers has joined the short list of independently owned coffee trading houses, as founder and managing partner Craig Holt has purchased the balance of the company’s shares from the American Coffee Corporation of New Jersey.
The transaction, effective Oct. 1, will give Holt 100 percent ownership of the company.
“We have always operated independently, but now that ownership is consolidated here in Seattle it strengthens our financial position, allows us to better serve our vendors and clients, and should increase the strong growth pattern we’ve enjoyed throughout our first fourteen years in business,” Holt said in a company announcement.
Atlas currently has a staff of 14, with offices and a coffee laboratory in Seattle’s Crown Hill neighborhood. Catering to high-end specialty coffee roasters, the company also warehouses coffee in Oakland, Kansas City, New Jersey and Vancouver.
