The namesake purveyor of fresh roasted coffee in the tranquil Lancaster, Pennsylvania, borough of New Holland has been made new once again. Now in its 13th year, the New Holland Coffee Co. recently picked up and moved into a larger space just a few doors down from its original location.

While it’s not a big move geographically, it’s a big step up for the company that’s growing from a 1,400-square-foot roastery cafe into one that’s 4,200 square feet. The new digs include space for larger meetings and events, a drive-through pickup window for customers that call ahead and order by phone, an onsite kitchen for more substantial items such as burgers and tacos, and a wood-burning hearth by which patrons can sit and sip through the frosty northeastern winter.

“New Holland is a quiet, quaint little town,” Co-owner Mark Fisher told Daily Coffee News. “People in this area have an appreciation for agriculture, and therefore identify with the farmers of coffee. More than that, they can value and recognize high-quality coffee.”

The new New Holland Coffee deftly straddles a sophisticated sense of modernity and an embrace of the rustic and historic colonial farming and manufacturing heritage of the region. A high, open ceiling, modern furniture, sleek pendant lights and clean exterior bring the business up to date, while Fisher said the company also incorporated a lot of antique wood and sliding barn doors on either side of the fireplace for the rustic feel.

Said Fisher, “Our interior decorator Aimee Weaver has done a fantastic job capturing the look we were aiming for.”

The business also transitioned to all new equipment on the coffee bar, including a glistening three-group Nuova Simonelli Aurelia II espresso machine paired with a Eureka Zenith grinder. Behind the bar a wall of clean white subway tile brightens the action, while vintage-style Fleur de Lis ceiling tile exudes a classy sense of history overhead.

The company has been roasting out of its original space since 2005. Soon, the new shop will be home that operation as well, while the equipment may also soon be upgraded in pursuit of greater capacity to facilitate a push on the NHCC wholesale program.

“We are the one and only coffee shop in New Holland, Pennsylvania, that roasts in-house,” said Fisher. “We try different flavors, blends, and roasts and see what works best. We deeply care about the quality and roast of our coffee beans. We definitely hope to expand our wholesale roasting business in the coming months.”

New Holland Coffee is now open at 840 W Main Street in New Holland.
