After a three-year in-person hiatus because of you-know-what, the New York Coffee Festival is returning to the Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan Oct. 7-9.

With the festival comes the Coffee Masters NYC event, designed as a fast-paced barista competition that encompasses numerous coffee skills at once, including cupping, brewing, signature drink development and order processing.

Beyond the competition, the annual festival produced by Allegra Events features an expo “Village,” which organizers say will include more than 100 exhibitors this year showing off their coffee, tea and related products.

Straddling the line between a strictly consumer event and a B2B event, the 2022 New York Coffee Festival will also include a movie room showing short films, a coffee sensory experience exhibit, latte art competitions, a “Lab” program featuring workshops and presentations from coffee professionals, local music and locally produced art.

The opening day of the show, Friday, Oct. 7, is designated as a “trade day,” with general admission only available to coffee, food, beverage and hospitality professionals.

According to Allegra Events — which is part of the UK-based market research, media and events group of companies under the Allegra Group banner — 100% of the profits from the event will go towards the Allegra Foundation’s Project Waterfall, a charitable organization established to support drinking water solutions in coffee-growing communities.

The New York event will also represent the culmination of Allegra’s annual New York’s Best Barista competition, in which New Yorkers are invited to vote for their favorite local barista. The winning barista will receive a trip to a sibling event in London, Paris, or Milan, according to the organizers.

The New York Coffee Festival is historically one of numerous annual coffee events under the Allegra banner. In the United States, the group is also planning to host the Los Angeles Coffee Festival on Feb. 10-12, 2023.
