Internet connectivity device manufacturer Belkin has introduced a new device intended to automate home coffee brewing, among other kitchen appliance functions.
The California-based company has rolled out its WeMo SMART platform. Jarden Consumer Solutions, the owner of brands including Sunbeam®, Crock-Pot®, Mr. Coffee® and Oster®, is the first company to be incorporating the platform.
“As smart devices become more prolific in the home, we wanted to give companies an easy way to reinvigorate traditional product categories with internet connectivity and the ability to integrate with other household devices and cloud-based services,” Jamie Elgie, senior director of product management at Belkin, said in an a Jan. 8 announcement of the new line. “JCS is the perfect initial partner because its brands make the exact kind of products our fans have been asking us to integrate with WeMo.”
