The Association of Indonesia Coffee Exporters and Industry has elected a new chairman, 32-year-old Medan native Irfan Anwar. Anwar will serve a three-year term for the organization, which also goes by the English acronym AICE or the Indonesian acronym AEKI.
Anwar is currently president and director of PT Coffindo Export and Trading Company, which exports Indonesian beans to major markets throughout the world, including the United States. In 2010, he was named Best Exporter by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudyohono. and last year, the Asia Pacific Entrepreneur Association named him Asia Pacific Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year.
In an announcement of the appointment, Anwar outlined his vision for AICE, which includes working with the Indonesian government on more regulations to help advance the prominence of the country’s coffee in the global marketplace.
