An Indiana couple has purchased Kettering, Ohio-based roastery and retailer The Fine Grind, and moved the business to Greensburg, Indiana, a small city between Indianapolis and Cincinnati.

The Fine Grind got its start at Union Station in Indianapolis in 1986, and soon after opened another coffee shop in Memphis, Tenn. The roastery was moved to Ohio in 2007 after being purchased by a former employee. Michael Layne and his wife Donna, operating under the name MDL Coffee and Tea, purchased the business in March of this year after operating their own retail bar in Greensburg since 2011.

“With Mike’s bi-vocational background of Ministry and Law Enforcement, a people-oriented business like this is a natural fit,” the Laynes said in a company announcement.

The new Fine Grind retail shop is at 120 E. Washington St.
