The owners of Kansas City upstart Thou Mayest Coffee Roasters are planning a Spring opening for their first storefront.
The Kansas City Star reports that the one-year-old roastery will open at 419 E. 18th St. in the East Crossroads, including an upstairs event space and a patio overlooking the Crossroads KC music venue.
Thou Mayest’s menu will include coffee drinks and pastries. But it also will be a place where people can gather for “meaningful conversations.” From the KC Star story:
“When people say ‘let’s go get a cup of coffee’ that’s a conduit. What you want is a relationship,” said Bo Nelson, a partner in the business with Bill Holzhueter, Dave Mullikin and Brendon Hildreth. “We are local guys in a local startup wanting to promote and ‘cross-pollinate’ with other Kansas City businesses.”
Thou Mayest, which borrows its name from a passage in John Steinbeck’s East of Eden, also happens to have one of the loveliest promotional videos around.
