Following the recent opening of its first Los Angeles bar, and fourth total, Santa Cruz-based Verve Coffee Roasters has plans to open at least four more L.A. neighborhood shops.
“Los Angeles has always been at the forefront of our minds when we thought about expansion beyond Santa Cruz because of its diverse and neighborhood-centric culture,” Verve Co-founder Colby Barr said in an announcement today.
At least two shops, one in West Hollywood and one in Highland Park, are being planned for 2015, in addition to a long-rumored L.A. roasting headquarters. The downtown Los Angeles shop opened approximately 10 days ago in a 1,600-square-food space shared with the L.A.-based cold-pressed juice brand Juice Served Here. For more on that shop, check out extensive profiles from Sprudge and the L.A. Times.
When we first reached out to Barr about Verve’s LA ambitions in 2013, he shared with us the following:
“The move to LA is an opportunity to share our brand firsthand with a community that has been really supportive of us,” says Barr. “We have some great relationships there and look forward to growing with them. Also, the street art scene is out of control, which may or may not really be why I want to go there.”
