SCAA and SCAE Join to Create the First UAE National Chapter in Dubai

The Specialty Coffee Association of Europe and the Specialty Coffee Association of America have collaborated to help create the first national chapter in the United Arab Emirates.

The UAE National Chapter was officially formed earlier this month at the Gulfood Show in Dubai. It represents the first national specialty coffee chapter in the Middle East and is the first ever joint chapter between the SCAA and SCAE. Representatives from both associations were present for the meeting, where 29 members and coordinators were in attendance.

Driven by tourism and general economic growth, the specialty coffee market in the UAE has grown exponentially in recent years among Western chains and independent shops alike. Market analyst Euromonitor International last year predicted strong growth in virtually every UAE coffee segment for the next five years.

The move also reflects the concerted and increased efforts on the part of the SCAA to establish itself in growing international markets.
