U.S.-based Probat Group subsidiary Probat Inc. has acquired E D Industrial, a Canada-based millwright and fabrication company that specializes in manufacturing, installation and repair of coffee roasting production systems.
Based in the North Chicago suburb of Vernon Hills, Ill., Probat Inc. officially acquired E D Industrial Ltd. and E D Industrial USA on Jan. 13. The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
“The acquisition of EDI gives Probat the opportunity to offer full turnkey solutions made up of equipment sales, plant installation service and post-sales equipment service support to our customer base in North America,” Probat Inc. President John Fortin said in a company announcement. “We’ll also be able to add installation and maintenance services for other Probat supplied products from the Probat Food Division to our portfolio.”
With headquarters in Rockwood, Ontario, near Toronto, EDI specializes not only in coffee processing systems, but also offers services in building materials, metal refinement, recycling, aggregates, bulk material handling and other manufacturing services. Probat Inc. said the company is “well known to have more experience installing complete coffee process plants utilizing Probat coffee roasters than any other company in North America.”
Said Fortin, “Altogether, this acquisition significantly enhances the power of our customer presentation across all of our product lines and services, allowing us to better serve our market.”
