Seattle-based coffee roasting company Onda Origins is rolling out colorful new packaging designed to highlight the company’s green coffee sourcing connections.
Led by Ballard-based Parker Studio, the new visual identity reflects the eight-year-old coffee company’s commitments to direct, long-term relationships with green producers, including a revenue-sharing model.
Packaging reflecting the new look is explicitly intended to be “placed based,” according to the company, reflecting and celebrating the specific origins of the coffees.
“All growing partners provided specific imagery to be included on each bag, and were consulted throughout the process,” Onda Origins said in an announcement shared with DCN. “The refreshed logo and design elements embody a profound sense of place that resonates with the Onda Origins mission.”
Onda Origins continues to return $1 per pound of roasted coffee sales to coffee producers, which adds to the prices paid in the original green coffee purchase. The model is designed to boost farmer income outside the harvest season, while potentially allowing for autonomous investments in local farms and/or communities.
With the new packaging, Onda Origins is seeking to connect coffee consumers in Seattle and beyond more deeply with the places and people behind the green coffee.
“Onda Origins invites coffee enthusiasts to acquaint themselves with the individuals behind the coffees, as well as the rich cultural heritage and biodiversity inherent in coffee-growing regions,” the company said.
Onda Origins is celebrating the rebranding with a public after-hours event at its flagship roastery cafe in Hillman City on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 5-7 p.m.
