Fluid-bed roaster maker Sivetz just opened a dedicated showroom and headquarters in Hood River, Oregon, about an hour’s drive east of Portland.
The showroom represents the latest milestone for the roaster manufacturer, which borrows its name and guiding mechanical principals from legendary coffee engineer Michael Sivetz, who passed away in 2012.
Hood River-based entrepreneur Michael Barthmus relaunched the Sivetz brand in 2022, introducing a new flagship model called the SRM15. Later that year, the company moved fabrication and assembly into a separate dedicated facility, AAA Metal Fabrication in Beaverton, Oregon.
“This shift significantly improved our build quality and allowed us to focus on sales, marketing and service,” Barthmus recently told Daily Coffee News.
The SRM15 has undergone several upgrades since its 2022 debut, including: the expansion of programmable roast profile recipes using inlet temperature and bean temperature (IT/BT); a new fan; a mechanized cooling tray option; and an optional sound shield over the combustion chamber.
While sales of the SRM15 have picked up throughout the United States and Canada, the company is also working to introduce a 35-kilo capacity model, according to Barthmus.
Inside the new Sivetz showroom, guests can explore SRM15 features or even roast a batch of coffee or nuts.
“In addition to coffee roasting, we’ll soon begin commercially roasting nuts, inspired by Mike Sivetz’s tradition of selling roasted hazelnuts in his coffee lab,” Barthmus said. “We’ll start with hazelnuts, cashews, and almonds — roasted without salt, sugar, or oils, just as Mike did.”
People interested in visiting the showroom can contact Sivetz here.
