Report: Traders Who Bet On Coffee Prices to Come Down Now Struggling with Cash

At least two Brazilian coffee trading companies, Atlântica Exportação e Importação and sibling company Cafebras Comércio de Cafés do Brasil, turned to local courts in search of debt restructuring amid the current decades-high price period on the coffee commodity market, according to a Bloomberg report this week. One source warned the news organization of “rumors that other trading companies could also face serious problems,” since those traders that have hedged (bet short) on coffee futures may not have the cash to cover margin calls.

HostMilano Organizers to Launch Host Arabia in Riyadh

The Italian organizers of the massive HostMilano coffee and hospitality trade show, Fiera Milano, announced that they are bringing the event format to Saudi Arabia in 2026 through a partnership with Saudi events agency Semark. With COJIT Acquisition, MPE Opens European Headquarters in France

Chicago-area industrial grinder and food processing systems manufacturer Modern Process Equipment (MPE) has opened a European Union headquarters in Monistrol-sur-Loire, near Lyon, France. The company recently acquired the French industrial engineering firm COJIT, whose president, David Cizeron, is now president of the new MPE Europe.

Hawaii Coffee Association Seeking Cupping Competition Proposals

The Hawaii Coffee Association (HCA) issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the facilitation of the 2025 Annual HCA Cupping Competition. The coffee competition will align with the membership organization’s annual conference , which is scheduled for July 17-20 at the Kona Outrigger Hotel in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

ICO Global Market Report for November

The International Coffee Organization released its coffee market report for the month of November, showing an average composite indicator price of $2.7072, an 8% increase over the previous month.

GCP Adds Four New Sustainability Schemes as Equivalent to Reference Code

The pre-competitive Global Coffee Platform added four private sustainability schemes to its growing list of schemes deemed equivalent to the Coffee Sustainability Reference Code, which provides a baseline sustainability certification reference for the coffee industry. The new schemes are: Agri Evolve’s ACE; Coocacer’s Café Sustentável; Expocacer’s ECO; and Westrock Coffee Company’s RAÍZ Sustainability.

Jetinno Launches JL36 Super-Automatic Machine

Chinese commercial coffee equipment maker Jetinno launched its latest product, a super-automatic, large-interface coffee drink machine called the JL36. The machine includes customizable settings for milk frothing and extraction.

Nut Milk Startup PKN Launches Barista Milk

Austin, Texas-based nut milk company PKN is celebrating the launch of its latest product, Joy Barista Pecanmilk, formulated specifically for coffee and milk foaming applications.
