Barista Glove, Savory Toast Latte, Creed Cold Brew and More April 1 Headlines

Coffee April Fools

Per DCN tradition, we’ve rounded up some of the top April 1 headlines of the year, because, after all, who couldn’t use a bit of levity these days — even if it comes from brands?

We’re all about yuks over here, but we do have one bone to pick with the coffee marketing world: Please stop telling people your April Fools joke is an April Fools joke.

The rate of disclosure was far too high in 2025. Sure, we may live in a topsy-turvy era of alternative facts and self truths, and no one wants to get canceled for making a gross-looking dill pickle pourover. But isn’t this precisely the time to lean into comedic subversion?

Anyhow, onward and upward. Here’s a large smattering of headlines from around the coffee industry this April 1, with a hearty focus on strange drinks…

The BG-1 Barista Glove from Weber Workshops

While most of the equipment-focused brands were busy making ineffectual jokes about AI, boutique equipment manufacturer Weber Workshops got serious with the BG-1 Barista Glove. The teaser promises “lots of tech, lots of coffee, lots of IP.” Lots of yuks? You be the judge…

Cafe Steam’s Bikini Car Wash

Cafe Steam in Rochester, Minnesota, got steamy, indeed, offering a $5 bikini car wash. If you’ve ever been to Rochester in April, you know this does not end well.

Savory Toast Latte from Tapestry

Much of the normal world thought it was a joke when specialty coffee shops started rolling out toast menus in the 2010s. What’s next? Minnesota’s Tapestry Coffee brings things to their natural conclusion with the savory toast latte.

Let Rook Coffee Take You Higher with Creed Cold Brew

New Jersey-based roaster Rook Coffee randomly decided to clown Creed, offering the Creed Style Cold Brew. Why Creed? Why not Nickelback? Staind? 3 Doors Down?

Coffee with Melatonin from Cuvee

Coffee, which above all else is a legal upper, can also put you to sleep this year. Austin, Texas-based Cuvee Coffee introduced its melaotonin-infused Sweet Dreams blend.
