The Precision Coffee Tools brand of coffee equipment from Australian coffee roaster and equipment company Di Pacci Coffee recently launched a new steam-powered cleaning brush for commercial espresso bars.

The Steaming Brush, priced at $132 AUD ($79.11 USD as of this writing), is a nylon-bristled brush with tubing housed in its wooden handle that extends from the bottom to connect to the steam wand of any commercial or home espresso machine.

Steam from the machine combines with the user’s manual force for fast removal of coffee oils, residue and grime inside filter baskets, portafilters and group heads, as well as surfaces and other equipment, without requiring any additional soap or special detergents.

“It’s one of those rare tools that combines effectiveness with novelty. It genuinely helps clean espresso gear while being incredibly satisfying to use,” Michael Rababi, a.k.a. Mik Di Pacci, the founder and director of Di Pacci Coffee Company, told Daily Coffee News. “It’s a fast, water-efficient, and chemical-free way to keep things cleaner throughout the day. Many baristas are finding it helps them stay on top of cleanliness between full washes, and it reduces reliance on harsh cleaning agents. And let’s be honest — it’s also just a lot of fun to use.”

A 1-meter tube included with the brush is designed to strike an optimal balance between reach and steam pressure, although different lengths or custom orders are a possibility in the future, Di Pacci said.

For a deeper clean of heavily used coffee equipment, the company also still recommends an occasional soak in traditional cleaning products, such as Cafiza or JoeGlo. The Steaming Brush is intended for quick use throughout the day.

The brush adds to the nearly 100 products aimed at coffee professionals and aficionados in the Precision Coffee Tools catalogue.

“We launched the Precision line in response to a real need we saw in the market: well-designed, professional-grade tools that are stylish, durable, and practical for daily use behind the bar,” Di Pacci said. “The range has been growing rapidly ever since.”

Di Pacci Coffee Company was founded as a single coffee cart in 2003 in Marrickville, Australia, a suburb of Sydney.

“I was passionate about espresso and the cafe culture, and saw a real opportunity to bring a higher standard of equipment and service to the Australian coffee scene,” said Di Pacci.

The company has since ventured into new and used equipment sales, service,  customization and professional training. It also runs a roasting division that supplies more than 500 wholesale customers, Di Pacci said.

Last year, the company expanded into the United States, launching Di Pacci USA in partnership with Nick Salem, the owner of the three-shop Swallow Cafe retail chain in Brooklyn, New York.

“While a majority of our products are still shipped directly from our Sydney HQ, we do have a dedicated storage facility in New Jersey that holds stock for faster domestic fulfillment,” said Di Pacci. “We also have a growing network of technicians and service partners across the U.S. to support our customers locally.”

Meanwhile, in Sydney, Di Pacci Coffee also has a large co-roasting facility project in the works called The Roasting Club.

Said Di Pacci, “[It’s] a massive shared roasting facility we’re building that will be the largest of its kind anywhere in the world.”
