Seattle-based green coffee trader StoneX Specialty Coffee recently opened a warehouse outside Kansas City, Missouri, bringing more green coffees and professional coffee services to the central United States.
While StoneX coffees are currently available through five partner warehouses — including in Washington, Oregon, California, New Jersey and Texas — the new facility northwest of downtown Kansas City in Riverside is StoneX’s first company-owned-and-operated U.S. warehouse.
“We selected Kansas City due to its central location in the Midwest, which allows for improved accessibility and reduced transit times for roasters in the surrounding region,” StoneX Specialty Coffee Director of Sales and Operations Jolene Zehnder told Daily Coffee News.. “Our goal is to support roasters regardless of their location, and this strategic placement helps us better serve that mission.”
The facility, which officially opened last month, includes a state-of-the-art cupping lab alongside roasting and packing equipment, allowing for education and certification programming, barista training or other events.
As of this writing, the facility also had hundreds of bags of specialty-grade green coffees available for spot purchases, including offerings from Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Nicaragua, Papua New Guinea, Peru and Vietnam.
A division of the NASDAQ-listed StoneX Group, StoneX Specialty was formed upon StoneX’s 2024 acquisition of Mercon Specialty, the specialty-focused U.S. division of Dutch green coffee trader Mercon Coffee Group. The acquisition followed Mercon’s bankruptcy filing at the end of 2023.
The new StoneX Specialty warehouse is located at 4346 Belgium Blvd. in Riverside, Missouri.
