Counter-mounted coffee brewing equipment brand Modbar revealed two new systems last week, including a redesigned Modbar Pour-Over tap and module and a new Modbar tea solution.

Both were demonstrated publicly for the first time over the weekend in conjunction with the HostMilano expo in Milan, Italy, at Modbar parent company La Marzocco’s Out of the Box event.

Redesigned Modbar Pour-Over

More solidly columnar than its lab-equipment-like predecessor and with a sculpted top reminiscent of the Modbar Espresso AV group, the new Modbar Pour-Over tap was designed to deliver an improved hands-free solution for brewing single- and multi-cup brews in cafe settings.

Whereas the older version required users to move a hose delivering a single stream of water by hand, the new version features a fixed shower head that comes with three shower inserts in three diameters: 20 millimeters, 40 millimeters, and 70 millimeters. Shower head inserts twist off quickly to accommodate different brew methods and sizes on the fly.

Like the original version, the Pour-Over tap issues hot water at designated temperatures and in programmable intervals from an under-counter boiler module into the barista’s choice of filter holder and receptacle.

The new system improves temperature stability with flow-through heaters embedded within each tap, while an external pump delivers stable and consistent volume and flow regardless of potential pressure instability from the water supply.

Behind a wooden actuator lever at the top of the group, an embedded full-color screen grants access to profiles and settings with a push-button knob for navigation.

“The new Pour-Over offers several key features to improve brewing performance,” La Marzocco Product Marketing Manager Aric Forbing told Daily Coffee News. “Another advantage is that it follows the same philosophy introduced with Espresso AV and Steam, in that a single module supports two taps, or a single tap and a hot water faucet, doubling your capacity while preserving valuable under-counter space.”

Modbar Tea

With a custom pressurized filter basket and new firmware features available for download now, the Modbar Tea solution expands the functionality of any Modbar AV group to better accommodate the additional beverage category.

Users can program an initial fill volume, internal steeping time and the final beverage weight over two pulses in the interest of crafting hot teas or tisanes, infused beverages, iced drinks and more. An adjustment screw in the Modbar Tea portafilter allows baristas to control the exiting flow rate.

“When combined with updated firmware for the Modbar AV, [Modbar Tea] enables you to tailor recipes for tea infusions and on-demand tea concentrates, while encouraging engagement with your customers and showcasing your craft,” said Forbing.

Pricing information for both new systems is available to customers on request, and both products will be ready to ship before the end of 2025, the company said.
