Sporty Los Angeles ready-to-drink brand Beekeeper Coffee is bringing more muscle into the cold brew aisle, announcing a new investment round with numerous NBA players plus a nationwide rollout at Target.
The company, launched in 2023 by a group of entrepreneurs with ties to sports, entertainment and brand design, said new investors include Klutch Sports Group Founder and CEO Rich Paul and NBA players Draymond Green, Anthony Davis, Zach LaVine, Fred VanVleet and De’Aaron Fox. NFL quarterback Jared Goff, professional golfer Min Woo Lee and entrepreneur Matthew Pritzker were also named as investors.
The company did not disclose the investment amount, valuation or financial terms, but it said the funding is expected to support expansion into new retail outlets, new products and marketing. Beekeeper’s current retail presence includes Erewhon, The Fresh Market, Wegmans, Thrive Market and Gopuff, while the brand recently debuted in Target stores nationwide.
“Beekeeper is addressing a clear open space in the coffee category with a fresh perspective that aligns with the evolving preferences of a younger generation of consumers,” Paul said in the announcement. “There’s a significant opportunity in ready-to-drink coffee for a brand that delivers simplicity, quality and culture in equal measure.”

Beekeeper was created by Fara Leff, Paul Rivera, David Creech, Andrew Forbes and Nate Forbes, a group whose backgrounds involve sports, entertainment, design and consumer branding.
The brand launched with cold brew lattes in Vanilla, Mocha and Caramel flavors, plus a Double Black cold brew with a drop of honey. Beekeeper has since added flavors including Horchata and Hot Honey. The company’s marketing materials offer limited details on sourcing and production operations, instead leaning into flavor, sports culture and collaboration with celebrities and brands.
Beekeeper partnered with the Portland Trail Blazers for the 2024-25 NBA season, serving products through a branded cart at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. It also collaborated with Taco Bell on a limited-edition Horchata Cold Brew Latte in 2024.
The Beekeeper investment comes as ready-to-drink coffee continues to gain market traction in the U.S., often spurred by celebrity and brand affiliations.
“We’re building Beekeeper for a community that’s hungry for flavor and authenticity — and we’re just getting started,” Leff said in the announcement of the undisclosed investment.
