Corona, Calif.-based automated vending manufacturer AVT Inc. has opened a sales offices dedicated to Marley Coffee kiosks, including a showroom with Marley-branded machines. AVT is the exclusive U.S. distributor of Marley Coffee kiosks and automated coffee stores, and it hopes to introduce 2,000 company-owned units to the market within the next two years, projecting sales from the kiosks to reach $24 million by 2015.
“The Marley Cafes are the way of the future,” AVT CEO Shannon Illingworth said in a company announcement of the new sales office. “Why put up a large retail store like Starbucks – with all the associated overhead – when for a few thousand dollars, you can produce a better cup of Marley gourmet coffee, and place these self-service cafes virtually anywhere? We can put a beautiful Marley Coffee Automated Cafe almost everywhere that people congregate – even in places that could never hold a Starbucks, like office and apartment buildings, college campuses, and hotel lobbies, to name a few.”
Marley, which operates under the official name Jammin’ Java Corp., is one of several corporate players in the past two years to join what appears to be an automated specialty coffee vending arms race.
