For those consumers wishing that the robots making their coffee provided a more intimate touch, GE has a solution. The GE “Brilliant Brew” truck has been making its debut at SXSW in Austin, with automated baristas using facial recognition technology to etch pictures of the patron’s face into the latte foam.
The truck, serving lattes brewed with Tonx Coffee, is pouring today at 513 E. Cesar Chavez. For a glimpse of how well — or, more honestly, not well — the “Barista Bots” perform, check out this mangled version of Natt Garun’s otherwise lovely face at Digital Trends.
