The Maggie Awards are considered by many as the most prestigious publishing prize in the West, this year honoring excellence in print and electronic publishing in 84 categories, drawing more than 1,200 entries from 24 states west of the Mississippi River.

Roast’s Maggie Award-winning May/June 2012 issue featured articles highlighting the Coffee Taster’s Flavor Wheel; the chemistry of brewing coffee; Fair Trade USA’s new, inclusive model; the social life of coffee; and using profiling to improve roasted coffee. The articles featured layouts by Art Director Jeremy Leff, showcasing specialty coffee and roasting.

“We are very proud to be nominated for three Maggie Awards this year and to be recognized by our peers as the Best Special Interest magazine for a trade audience,” says Connie Blumhardt, Roast magazine’s publisher. “This award is a testament to the hard work of our staff, writers and photographers, and it shows that the publishing industry values Roast’s dedication to offering in-depth, technical content that benefits our readership.”
