Beloved Chicago-based roastery Intelligentsia has opened its first New York location, inside the new High Line Hotel in Chelsea.
The hotel building, a former seminary dormitory dating back to 1895, features much of its original Gothic architecture and some antique furnishings, along with many of the modern design touches and functionality of a modern, posh hotel.
Inside the hotel hotel lobby, the Intelligentsia team is manning a zinc-topped bar, offering drip coffees, Kalita Wave pour overs and espresso, as well as pastries. This is the first of five new Intelligentsia cafes expected to open this year, including three more in Chicago and one in San Francisco.
