La Marzocco has announced the dates and lineup for its third biennial Out of the Box, a conference and symposium on innovation and design in the coffee industry.
This year’s event will take place in Milan in a renovated industrial building on Via Bugatti 7 in Zona Tortona, beginning with “private industry meetings” on Oct. 17, followed by two days of speakers, workshops and exhibits. While much of the program is focused on developments related to the La Marcozzo brand, there are also plenty of hands-on workshops and seminars geared toward all types of specialty coffee professionals. The majority of the seminars will be in English.
“Since the first Out of the Box in 2009, our customers have traveled from around the world to attend and learn from one another,” says Kent Bakke, CEO of La Marzocco International. “Especially today, there is a high degree of attention to detail and high-quality execution in the preparation of espresso coffee with incredible things happening in markets around the world. Out of the Box is a remarkable platform for the global community to come together and learn from one another.”
The impressive speaking lineup includes: Piero Bambi, Francesco Illy, Luca Trazzi, Alessandro Parenti, Sven Hoffman, Raffaelle Sangiovanni, Paul Schilperoord, Maurizio, Rosetti, David Griswold and Thomas Plattner. Out of the Box will also feature some collaborative artistic exhibits, including “Coffee Shop Of The Future,” an exhibit by students from the European Institute of Design. There will also be barista training workshops and roasting workshops led by master cupper and grader Gianluigi Nora.
