The team at Coffee Chemistry is launching a three-level coffee science certificate program (CSC), designed to provide “a strong technical foundation for professionals across every sector of the specialty coffee industry.” The group, led by Joseph A. Rivera, officially announced the program at last year’s World of Coffee event in Nice, France, and is in the process of registrations for three upcoming 2014 sessions in the United States:
- Jan. 8-9 – Los Angeles, CA (registration open)
- Jan. 29-30 – Seattle, WA (registration open)
- Feb. 5-6 – Portland, OR (registration opens Jan. 8)
The Level 1 seminars (CSC-1), which are limited to 12 people and currently cost $725 for early bird pricing, will cover the following topics:
- Chemistry of Taste
- Fundamentals of Sensory Analysis
- Green Coffee Fundamentals: Quality & Storage
- Introduction to the Science & Chemistry of Coffee
