Seattle Coffee Gear, the home coffee equipment store that started in Lynwood, Wash., and last year opened a bigger location in Bellevue, is expanding yet again, this time moving across state lines to Portland.
The new store will be the growing company’s biggest to date, occupying a 3,200-square-foot space at Northwest Portland at 26 NW 23rd PL that was formerly occupied by the high-end clothier Blake, which closed last year. While the official opening is scheduled for June 24, a grand opening celebration will be June 28.
Like the Bellevue store, the Portland store will be heavy on demonstrations so customers can test machines before making a purchase. Seattle Coffee Gear maintains relationships with a number of brands that have strong presences in both the home and commercial markets, including Baratza, Breville, DeLonghi, Rancilio, Rocket Espresso and Saeco.
The new store will feature regular education, training and tasting seminars utilizing a 12-foot-long “event bar,” as well as on-site service techs to help troubleshoot and tune up existing machines.
